September 14–18, 2026 is Kentucky Safe Schools Week, and this year’s theme is “Strong Roots. Safe Schools.”

Just like strong roots help a tree grow and thrive, strong relationships, positive choices, and a supportive school community help create safe and welcoming environments where every student can learn and succeed.

Throughout the week, students, families, educators, and community members are encouraged to take the “Strong Roots. Safe Schools.” pledge and commit to:

• Plant the Seed by making choices that prevent harm and promote safety.
• Grow Connections by building positive relationships and supporting those around us.
• Strengthen the Trunk by caring for our mental health and asking for help when needed.
• Branch Out by making sure everyone feels respected, celebrated, and included.
• Harvest Safety by recognizing positive actions that strengthen our schools.

Together, we can continue building school communities where everyone feels safe, supported, connected, and ready to learn.

Strong Roots. Safe Schools. It starts with all of us.
